LOCATION - VARANASI, UTTAR PRADESH
CULTURAL CENTER & MUSEUM AT RAMNAGAR, VARANASI
The project emerged as a cultural and community hub in Ramnagar that fosters public engagement while celebrating the site’s heritage. The design integrates spaces for cultural activities, exhibitions, and community interaction, supporting local traditions and livelihoods.
By responding sensitively to the historical context, the proposal aims to create a place where heritage, community, and contemporary cultural life intersect.

Approach .....
The design draws inspiration from the ‘galis’ of Varanasi, reinterpreting their layered spatial character within a contemporary architectural framework. These narrow urban lanes—spaces of movement, memory, and everyday ritual—inform the conceptual foundation of the project.
Through an abstracted spatial diagram, the organic flow of these गलियाँ is translated into a network of interconnected paths and enclosed courtyards. This approach shapes the spatial language of the design around connection, enclosure, and encounter, recreating the intimate and experiential quality of Varanasi’s traditional urban fabric while accommodating contemporary programmatic needs.
